    Description

    Single pole pushwire commoning terminal
Simply pushing the stripped conductor into the connector makes the connection. The transparent housing provides a visible indication that the conductor is secure. There is also a test point in the base of the housing which can be accessed using a standard test probe. To remove the connector simply pull on the conductor whilst twisting the connector block back and forth. The connector can then be reused. This two port connector will be most useful for making a simple striaght through connection of two cable cores though it is also be used to cap off a single wire that needs to be made safe as the connector is encapsulated and provides protection to IP2X and is touch safe when there is no moisture present.

Certified to BS EN 60998 - Connecting devices for low voltage circuits for household and similar purposes. Particular requirements for connecting devices as separate entities with screwless-type clamping units.

    Q&A
    • From Dave T at 04/03/2013 20:09. Was this helpful?  Yes   No
Can these be used on Ring Mains?
Yes they can. Typically a ring final circuit is installed using 2.5mm twin and earth cable and the 773 series terminals are compatible this type of solid core cable. With respect to the current rating a ring main has two current paths and this is why a 32A over current protective device (Circuit Breaker or Fuse) can be used. The regulations indicate that accessories on a ring final circuit have a minimum current rating of 20A which is in line with the current carrying capacity of the cable, as the 773-102 has a rating of 24A this is well within this requirement.

Great product, quick and easy to use but do these need a separate enclosure such as a chocbox? Thanks.
      Hi Geoff,
Yes they do. Where basic insulation is exposed then this should be protected by an enclosure. The Wagobox enclosure has been designed specifically for this purpose.
    • From PF at 27/05/2016 12:25. Was this helpful?  Yes   No
      Are these Maintenance Free?
Yes, Wago spring clamp connectors are maintenance free. Note: The MF mark, referred to in BS7671, relates to a maintenance free accessory which must also include the enclosure. The 773 and 222 connectors when used with a Wagobox in accordance with the MF installation instructions will form an MF accessory.

    1. Time saving and impress customers too!
      by Kev May 24, 2013

It's a no brainer. connectors simple quick and reliable. Enclosures have cord grip which choc box has not, unless you are prepared to fanny around with the screws and tabs in some of them? I'm certainly not. I take the terminal block out of downlights and use the spring loaded connectors instead - happy days! Can build the circuit, test, then add the light fittings c/w bulbs / LED's later!

    2. Outstanding and Excellent
      by Jonathan M February 25, 2013

Fast, clean safety in mind. These terminals connectors in conjunction with or without the Wago box are second to none!
Less time spent messing around with sizing cables to fit other terminal connectors or small screws and then having to try and fit in place with other type junction boxes. Stress free!
Ray, thank you for all of your advice and time via the telephone and your emails.

    3. Great products!

Was shown these during my AM2 exam and used them ever since, cuts termination times greatly which for me makes up for the extra few pence each!

    4. Nifty kit
      by steve May 30, 2010

used to build a lighting circuit from scratch !! i hate down lights but hey with them connectors they are a dream! no more looking up and fiddling to get the screw to sit on wire..! not used for ring yet but will give a go soon..!

wagobox is good piece of kit also however i some time find a simple choc box minus the connector strip can work just as well and save a few £££

    5. Ring Use and Current Rating
by Brown Badger Ltd April 05, 2010

Have now been using on Ring Circuits for over a year and these are fine for all 2.5 mm joints (this 2 pole connector) and tees/spurs (use the Orange 4 pole 773-104). Also for radial circuits up to the connector rating (24 Amp) so in practice this means 20A MCB circuits maximum usually..A quick and easy system once you have had a little practice with using it.

    6. A must have item
by Antric Electrical (Manchester) November 18, 2009

I have used these Wago's now for at least 12 months if not more.
Where lighting terminations are concerned they are excellent and I am now geared up with every type of connector.
Wish they had been around years ago.
Wish they were boxed in larger quantities of 500 or even just hundreds which could bring cost per connector down .
      Regards
      Tonyr

    7. Fast, Easy to Use, Neat
      by Steven September 25, 2009

Well at first I had my doubts, but after using them now for 3 months I am finding I choose these over normal screw connectors always.

My only minus point is cost, the screw connector is a lot cheaper.

With all the range its simplicity and compliance ensures the job is safe and up to date.

    9. Dont forget the current rating
      by Tim March 08, 2009

Have used push connectors for a year or so, save much time, be carefull if using to extend ring main however, these push fits ar rated at 24A, ring MCB is 32A, use the cage clamp type instead which are 32A. I know at least one electrician who has been using for a while before this was pointed out.

      Webadmin writes:
Hi Tim, thanks for the feedback.
A rIng main can be supplied through a 32amp MCB as there are two current paths. As we are using 2.5mm cable to make the ring, no arm of the ring should carry more than 20 Amps as this is the current carrying capacity of the cable in the majority of installation methods. Therefore the minimum requirement for a junction in a ring is 20Amps (See BS7671: 433.1.5) The pushfit connectors are rated up to 24 Amps and are therefore fine for use in a ring main circuit. Of course the 222 connectors are also a very good choice.

    10. Superd, quick and easy to connect cables.
      by strings January 15, 2009

Using all types of wago connectors, saved loads of time, no damage to cables and very neat.
