Series 222 Cage Clamp Commoning Connectors
The operation of the 222 series terminals is simplicity itself. The cage clamp inside the connector block is opened by using one of the integrated orange levers. Once in the open position the clamp is ready to accept the insertion of the stripped conductor. Close the lever flush with the body of the connector block and the connection is complete. To remove a conductor simply open the clamp and the connector can be reused. There is a test point in the base of the housing.

BS7671 Compliant-  Wago connectors meet the most stringent UK and international standards including the electrical requirements of BS7671 17th Edition. Installers can be totally confident that using Wago connectors enables them to follow 'best practice' procedures and fully comply with the most up to date safety criteria.

    2. Excellent
      by MarkieSparkie August 14, 2010

Superb product. Great solution to a long-standing problem. Must order some more soon... Looking forward to trying out the new mounting button (sounds like a brilliant idea for a fixing method).

Tip: don't hold the cable cores right up at the connector body as you flip the levers down, as they can whack the ends of your fingers a bit as they spring down. That's not really a design flaw - just something practical to be aware of. Suprisingly strong springs!

I agree with Steve that a single version & an insulated 3-way version would come in quite handy. These could have a different body colour or a different lever colour, to avoid any confusion with the normal types.

Only slight comment (on the box) is that the grips seem to squeeze 2.5 T&E cables very hard even when on the widest setting - need a huge amount of sideways squeezing at that end of the box in order to get the lid properly clipped shut. BUT that was the original style of boxes, so maybe that has been fixed in the newer design, which I haven't tried yet.

Hi Markiesparkie, thank you for your feed back.
The new style wagobox now has more gripper positions and some improvements to the cable grippers which will make this easier.
I know what you mean though, cable thickness can vary quite a bit... Here's a tip that might help: If the cable is on the limit of what you can comfortably fit use a stanley knife and trim a mm off the black gripper. Take care to cut it off square so the gripper isn't left sharp and hold the gripper with a pair of pliers when doing this. Another tip, if you need to grip cables that are different thicknesses in one slot you can segment the gripper by cutting the leaf part into two (don't cut the base just the leaf).

    3. good kit
      by steve May 30, 2010

used on rings and radials ! time saver!

wish they would introduce a single insulated version so that i could terminate redundant cables (the one above would be brill if i could include L,N and E into a 3 way strip and it be insulated)

until then i suppose what's been provided helped ten fold..!!

just ordered my latest stock, cheers WAGO!!

    4. Very good for testing as well as "proper connections"
      by Stu July 04, 2009

As well as using them on "proper permanent joints", these lever type connectors are great for temporary connections.

Like when doing continuity tests, such as crossing the legs of ring circuit whilst taking readings at each socket outlet.

quick & easy to pop the ends of the 2.5mm in, do your tests & quick release to reconnect circuit cables back into CU.

Also very good for temporary strapping wires together during fault investigation work. Saves loads of time screwing traditional connector blocks!
